Lithuania’s Support for Ukraine

7 September 2022 - 3 March 2023

Problem

With the start of Russia’s large-scale aggression in Ukraine in February 2022, the world’s priorities have changed. Ukraine prepared a 10-year plan for its recovery and presented Ukraine’s “Peace Formula”, consisting of 10 proposals to end the senseless war, presented at the G20 summit in Indonesia.

European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen announced plans at the Lugano conference to create a common platform for organizing support, and some countries have taken responsibility for specific cities in Ukraine with plans to rebuild them after the war ends. At the Berlin conference, German Chancellor Olaf Scholz proposed the Marshall Plan for the reconstruction of Ukraine, stressing that the West should prepare for the fact that the reconstruction of Ukraine will take time.

Lithuania is also preparing to contribute to the efforts of the international community in finding ways to support the long-term reconstruction of Ukraine. The Government of the Republic of Lithuania is looking for ways to coordinate Lithuania’s involvement in the reconstruction of Ukraine. Various organizations and businesses have also been actively supporting Ukraine for some time, providing immediate humanitarian and military aid.

Long-term support projects can be created using already accumulated experience and capacities. This project focuses on such activities for the future of Ukraine and the recovery of the country

Goal

The project aims to connect interested parties from different sectors, to encourage sharing of information about ongoing activities and to define areas and activities where non-governmental organizations could cooperate in support of Ukraine.
