Motivation
I am a second generation Lithuanian-American, having grown up in New Jersey in the United States. My family history and connection to Lithuania has always been very important to me. My grandfather was from a small town in southwest Lithuania and my grandmother was from Poland. They were displaced by the war and came to the United States in 1949. They both instilled in their children and grandchildren a deep love and respect for their homelands, especially Lithuania. We strongly value our Lithuanian heritage and many in my family, including myself, have returned to Lithuania previously.
This summer, I came back to live and work in Vilnius through the program “Bring Together Lithuania”. I interned at Invest Lithuania, where I learned about the Create Lithuania programme. Through my time in Vilnius this summer, I was able to reconnect with my roots, experience modern Lithuania, and see first-hand all the exciting changes and opportunities happening in here. I am excited to be able to stay in Lithuania for a longer period of time, contribute to its growth, and reconnect deeply with my heritage.
I have spent nearly the last decade gaining valuable professional and academic experience in economic policy, quantitative analysis, and policy research. I am especially interested in economic development and mobility, and I am thrilled to have the opportunity to contribute my professional and academic experiences to Lithuania through this programme.
