Create Lithuania’ participants to showcase their project outcomes at the National Library

On September 3 at 1 p.m., at the Martynas Mažvydas National Library of Lithuania, Create Lithuania participants will present the results of second-round projects, and new participants who will begin work in state institutions will also be introduced.
Guests are invited to join an expert discussion, “Regional Economy – How to Drive Change Locally?”. The event is open to the public, but participants are encouraged to register by filling out this form.
The event will be held in Lithuanian, with interpretation into English provided.
More than a dozen projects
From March to September 2025, programme participants implemented 13 projects, ranging from embedding circular economy principles in the construction sector and developing the wellness tourism industry, to the creation of a regulatory sandbox for the life sciences sector and the assessment of Lithuania’s extended reality ecosystem.
Other projects aimed to promote the growth of high-tech companies in free economic zones, engage local communities in the development of large-scale green technology projects, accelerate the country’s defence industry, contribute to the creation of a unified public transport ticket and a Sustainable Mobility Index, and strengthen Lithuania’s energy resilience.
Focus on regional development
According to the State Data Agency of Lithuania, the capital region alone typically generates almost half of Lithuania’s GDP, while regional disparity is consistently cited as one of the country’s major challenges. Every government promises to encourage innovation and strengthen regional economies, but event organisers ask whether these goals always reflect the actual context and capabilities of local administrations.
Participants in the discussion will explore how to put essential economic and public governance changes into practice, taking into account the specific challenges and expectations of different regions, and how to align national policy directions with regional needs and issues. They will also look at examples of regional success stories that offer lessons for Lithuania.
